lisbon bar show

Lisbon Bar Show 2017 lived up to all expectation! With the new venue, Convento do Beato, adding an extra anticipation, Phoebe, our export manager, headed out a day early to scout our Lisbon’s new (and well established) talent. First stop, and a must, was TIME OUT market, for a delicious fresh tuna lunch the creative Portuguese chef, Alexandre Silva …. And a GB Gin Garden from André Garcia at CINCO Meio the younger sibling of the much loved, CINCO Lounge. It was a lovely day so a walk up to the Castle for an incomparable view of the lovely Lisbon was a must.

Dinner was enjoyed at the new, BoaBao, the the world’s tastiest crème brulee, try and guess the secret ingredients! Before a catch up with the ducks at Double9, and the perfect night cap, Chase Vodka Martini at CINCO Lounge.

The first day of the show was a hot one and the new venue with its beautiful stone archways created exciting and expansive areas to explore. Drinks Nation & Co. pulled out all the stops, laying down real grass and having beautiful fresh red flowers which made our stunning Great Chase chesterfield sofa really pop. Lisbon Bar Show 2017 is the first of many global stops for our famous Great Chase sofa it was barely ever free. The second day saw even more crowds, though perhaps there weren’t so many early risers, as people attended talks and presentations, including our own masterclass which was a full house despite the late hour. As the show came to a close on the Wednesday it was a unanimous feeling that it was one of the best year, with thousands of visitors from across Portugal and from farther afield.

As they say, there is no rest for the wicked and Phoebe was up early to head down to the Algarve. The 2.5 hour drive was thankfully broken up with a stop off at a small town Grandola, to enjoy the delicious food from Carlos Santos’ restaurant, Taberna D’Vila  which we'd highly recommend for its quality locally sourced food, lovely atmosphere and of course it’s delicious Chase cocktails.

It was then onto Algarve with a visit to Oscars Bar and a coincidental meeting with an fellow x potato farmer and associate of William Chase, to enjoy a Chase Vodka and 1615 Pisco created by owner and head bar tender, Carlos Querriero. Followed by visits to the legendary Petacas and Columbus bar.

The place to rest our weary heads was the stunning Faro Hotel with its lovely roof top bar run by Joao and Fernando and unbeatable views over the natural park.

Our last in sunny Portugal and was spent having the freshest of seafood at Faro e Benfica …. And later chatting with and enjoying a tasty creation by the talented head bar tender, Nelson de Matos at the indescribably beautiful Gusto by Heinz Beck at the Concrad Algarve Hotel.

As you can tell we had a fantastic time visiting some brilliant places in Portugal and are looking forward to our next visit to discover even more.

Until the next trip…
