The Hot Dinners and our Chase Smoked Vodka Bloody Mary Challenge has a winner! Chefs from across the country entered the competition but after two months it came down to five incredible recipes. We’ve been totally impressed by the ingenuity shown in the creation of these innovative Smoky Mary recipes and frankly, it has been a tough old job whittling them down to a shortlist let alone a winner!
The Bloody Oyster, Ember Yard, The Little Gloster, Tapas Revolution and Tredwell’s by Marcus Wareing battled it out at The Running Horse in Mayfair on 25th September to take the crown, ‘but who won?’ we hear you ask. After the judges deliberated and toiled The Little Gloster was announced as the winner.
Ben Cooke from The Little Gloster on the Isle of Wight had the magic ingredient with him – gazpacho made with yellow Isle of Wight tomatoes, fresh horseradish and creme fraiche, topped off with oak smoked tomatoes, a sliver of Gloucester Old Spot pancetta he’d cured himself and a drizzle of coriander oil. For both visual impact and taste it felt like a winner.
