Our story simply wouldn’t be what it is without the craft of our people. The first in a series, Oli, our head distiller and master of all spirit making, shares his love for his team and his childhood career idea that didn’t quite plan out. Take a read below to learn more…
What is your journey so far at Chase?
I started in April 2017 as Head Distiller looking after all of the liquid production and leading the team in the distillery. Since then, I’ve taken on great new projects to do with different spirits and the expansion of our distillery for the future.
What is your favourite part of your role?
The people – feel very lucky to have such a great team to work with on a daily basis, we’ve fostered a great culture and I’m really glad to be able to see members of my team progressing and learning new skills in their roles every day.
Do you have any exciting plans in store for the future?
We have a lot of exciting things in the pipeline across all areas of what we do. From new product launches to distillery expansion plans as well as the development and first release of our…that one will have to be kept as a secret for now but there is always plenty of work to do!
What do you think makes Chase stand out?
A combination of the authenticity behind what we do, the style and eccentricity of how we present it…which I think is a product of the heritage and provenance to our brand and the unique environment of Herefordshire that we operate from.
What is your favourite serve?
If I had to choose only one, it would probably have to be a Negroni…if you know, you know! If made with our Seville Orange Marmalade gin, it is an absolute winner.
If you could have a drink with anyone who would it be and why?
Steve Jobs… but I think he’d have some pretty sound advice on life and business, he’s certainly left an inspiring legacy.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
The first aspiration I had as a child was to be a Formula One racing driver…alas the dream never happened, but I don’t think I’ve come off too bad with distilling if I’m honest!
