Ballymaloe Lit Fest 2015
Fresh from the plane and feeling inspired. What an incredible few days in Ballymaloe!
The trip was a Christmas present, cleverly given to me by way of a wrapped up wine bottle cork. No, I wasn’t heading to the south of France to sample delicious wine – as initially thought – but to the Lit Fest in Ballymaloe, 1 hour South of Cork!
Having eaten our way around Cork on Friday; exploring the hidden treasure that is The English Market, devouring fresh fish at Farmgate Cafe and drinking local cocktails in their many bars, the Ballymaloe Lit Fest opening party beckoned.
Ballymaloe House is an enchanting, romantic country house, set in an emerald estate of 100 acres, complete with wisteria, breathtaking views and the best kitchen garden I have ever seen. Famous for their cooking courses, their annual Lit Fest has become a true foodie Mecca.
And it did not disappoint! The weekend was a whirlwind of wonderful. Incredible food, delicious drinks, interesting people and inspiring talks. Packed to the brim of so many amazing memories, but the real cherry on top for me was meeting my favourite chef, April Bloomfield (of The Spotted Pig, New York).
Should you ever get a chance to go, I thoroughly recommend that you do! Advice from me? Remember to pack your drinking hat, dust off those dancing shoes and prepare your tastebuds for a real treat!
Ballymaloe, t’anks a million!
