Country Tails

June 9, 2013

Its that time of year again – The British elderflower season has arrived!

Blossoming in the hedgerows of the farm, Elderflower’s are ripe for the picking and we are making use of a great crop.

Late May and June herald the arrival of elderflowers and the joy of enlivening your kitchen with something free from the hedgerow. Elder trees grow everywhere. You don’t need to be in the countryside, you will find an elderflower tree in almost every park or countryside. This time of year you can’t miss them with their huge white plates of shining flowers glowing against the cool green leaves.

In a few weeks we will start pressing the flowers to make syrup, which then gets blended with our award winning potato vodka to make our elderflower liquor.
