Last week we held the Smoky Chase Competitions judging at The Whip in Mayfair. Simon Difford, James Chase and David Gerrans were all on the judging panel, and it’s safe to say that they throughly enjoyed tasting all of your Smoky Chase recipes.

Honourable mentions go out to Be At One Cocktail Bar for their Smoky Mary cocktail, Super Mary by Nick Lewis – it went down quite a treat amongst the judges.

David Gerrans, Bar Manager at The Whip Cocktail Bar in Mayfair London said:

‘‘In my opinion the key to a great Bloody Mary is a large amount of spice, and a large amount of simplicity. If I can make it with a hangover, the recipe is simple enough. That’s why we had to give a special mention to Be At One Bar. Their recipe was simple, yet throughly delicious’’

But there could only be one winner, and we’re thrilled to announce that The Churchill’s Full English Smoky Mary by Marcus Heale takes the grand prize!

Simon Difford, creator of Diffords Guide said:

‘‘This Bloody Mary is the ultimate brunch drink. It is literally breakfast in a glass, with tomato soup, pureed baked bean juice, Henderson’s Relish, Marmite, English Mustard and of course Chase Smoked Vodka.’’

We were delighted to have received entries from around the world and hope that the momentum for the Smoky Mary continues.
