Rosemaund Farm
becomes Chase Farm
In November 2007 William Chase bought Rosemaund Farm, which later became Chase Farm and the home of Chase distillery. Buried deep in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside, William fell in love with the location and the richness of the land around it.

2008
Meet Maximus
and Fat Betty
In this February 2008 we took delivery of and installed Fat Betty, our copper batch pot and Maximus, the tallest copper rectification column in the world, ready to start work on our Vodka distillation.

The very
first drop...
On the 1st April 2008, the very first drop of our award-winning Chase Vodka was distilled in our converted hop-kiln distillery. We were shocked to discover that 16 tonnes of our potatoes only produced 1,000 litres of vodka.

Shaken not stirred at
our first ever event
We practiced their espionage in December 2008 with our first event sponsorship for Ian Fleming’s, the creator of James Bond, Centenary Party. This was a star-studded event at the London Palladium and was hosted by Stephen Fry and Joanna Lumley, even Daniel Craig was in attendance!

New year,
new branding
To celebrate the start of a new year, Tyrrells Vodka was given a fresh new look in 2009 and rebranded as Chase Vodka. William Chase always says that ‘when you’re proud of something, put your name on it’ so that’s exactly what he did.

Williams Elegant
48 Gin is born
In March 2009 our Williams Elegant 48 Gin was born out of a desire to branch out into gin production. Herefordshire is the cider capital of the country and so it made sense to produce a fantastic cider from our own apples before distilling it into this delicious gin.

Time to get smoky with the launch
of our Oak Smoked Vodka
In August 2009, the first drop of Chase Oak Smoked Vodka was produced. This Vodka was the first of our collection of limited editions and is incredibly popular to this day. The first batch consisted of 500 bottles and we now produce batches of 1000.

2010
Chase wins gold at the
Oscars of the spirits world
Perhaps the most momentous occasion in our history happened in this month in 2010, we won the title of the World’s Best Vodka at the San Francisco Drinks Awards. Often referred to as the Oscars of the spirits world, this accolade certainly changed the game for us. On the back of this win, we decided to launch our Chase Vodka in the states.

Breakfast doesn’t get any better
than our Marmalade Vodka
In Autumn 2010, we added another limited edition to their collection. In this month in 2010, the famous Marmalade Vodka was produced and distributed to the first buyers.

Chase goes global at
Heathrow Terminal 5
By early 2011, our Marmalade Vodka was so popular that Heathrow airport decided to stock it in Terminal 5. Now all thirsty fliers could get their Chase fix.

Music, open fields, good food and drink… our first festival was a great success
In August 2011, we decided wanted to give something back to the spirits industry who had supported us on their journey so far. To do this, we created the Rock The Farm festival which we held at the distillery exclusively for industry professionals. This was the first industry only festival in the UK.

2012
Raising a glass to the Queen’s Jubilee & 2012 Olympics with Harvey Nichols at our Country Tails Terrace
In 2012, we were approached by Harvey Nichols to create an exclusive rooftop terrace in time for the British summer. After transforming the terrace into a ‘Country Tails’ themed lounge, Hereford Martinis and Rhubarb Spritz cocktails were served a-plenty! The terrace continued throughout the Queen’s Jubilee and the 2012 London Olympics.

Introducing our
Williams GB Gin
Discovering the little unknown fact that gin is made from vodka; William decided to start redistilling Chase Vodka and with the addition of wild botanicals, Williams GB Gin was born.

2013
Rocking the boat at Henley Regatta with our halfway bar
In 2013 Chase arrived at the quintessentially British event, Henley Regatta, where we opened and ran a halfway bar for guests. This was the start of our bar at Henley which we now serve thirsty spectators from every year.

Celebrating country chic at Smoked and Uncut with The Pig Hotels
In August 2013 we packed up our Land Rovers and headed south for the first instalment of the fantastic Smoked & Uncut festival at The Pig Hotel. These festivals are designed to be a celebration of everything foodie and fabulous in the heart of the British countryside – exactly what we are all about!

From field to bottle
In August 2014, we planted 40,0000 apple trees on the land around the distillery to ensure we have a constant supply for our Williams Elegant 48 Gin – they look pretty fine too!

2015
The Sunshine Mary
In 2015 we launched our Smoky Mary Competition. We asked the best chefs from around the UK to send us in their innovative Bloody Mary recipes featuring our Oak Smoked Vodka. After a lengthy debate, Ben Cooke from the Little Gloster was crowned the worthy winner with his ‘Sunshine Mary’ recipe.

2015
One Potato Two
In late 2015, William decided to share his story from the early days as a potato farmer to starting the distillery, and published his autobiography ‘One Potato Two’. The book focuses on William’s life and includes his favourite cocktail and food recipes as well as some top entrepreneurial tips. Once printed, the book was shipped around the world to be enjoyed by members of the public and the industry alike.

2016
We become first vodka to reach the North Pole with the Race Against Time expedition
In 2016 Chase Vodka became the first Vodka to reach the North Pole thanks to the fantastic work of Mark Wood and his team of intrepid explorers. The men were the only British team to reach the pole in that season, a fantastic achievement!

Pink grapefruit delight with Selfridges
In June 2016, our Master Distiller launched a Limited Edition Pink Grapefruit Gin for Selfridges- we’re delighted that this has now become a firm favourite for gin lovers everywhere!

We kick off our sponsorship with Bath rugby
In October 2016 we began our partnership with Bath Rugby and became the official Gin and Vodka sponsor. To support Bath our horsebox bar rolls up to home games to serve thirsty spectators some refreshing cocktails.

2017
On world gin day we embark on our GB tour of the UK
On 10th June 2017, we started our GB Tour across the length and breadth of the country. We stocked our Land Rover up with Chase GB Gin and embarked on a tour to showcase the unique taste of GB. Stopping off at some of our favourite cities and venue we delighted with gin tastings, cocktail masterclasses and gin-themed supper clubs.

Meet Huxley, our very own biomass boiler
In January 2018 we installed ‘Huxley’, our biomass boiler which we use to fuel the entire distillery by using waste woodchip (some of which are even being taken from our apple orchard prunings) and energy crop planted on the farm. This takes us one step further in our quest to become self-sufficient and fully carbon neutral.

Win our first ever Land Rover 90 competition
To celebrate our 10 year anniversary, we wanted to mark this milestone by giving away our first ever Land Rover 90 to one lucky person. The trusted Landy has been a treasured member of our family since 2008, accompanying us on all 10 potato harvests and seeing the journey evolve to what it is today. She’s been a faithful workhorse, great fun to drive and could tell many a story! After an absolutely fantastic response, our beloved Landy is now embarking on its next chapter of adventures with new owner, Freddy.

Introducing: Rhubarb & Bramley Apple Gin
At the very beginning of October 2018 we launched the newest addition to our family of field to bottle spirits. Our one-of-a-kind GB Gin is used as the base which is distilled from potatoes grown on our Herefordshire farm. In addition to its unique botanical infusion, cold pressed English rhubarb and home grown Bramley apples are expertly blended to create a delectable harvest-time tipple for any gin lover. It is already proving very popular...

In with the new…
This month we also say hello to our new-look bottles which unify our entire family of spirits all together under the Chase brand. William has spent the last two years plotting and planning how to make our packaging even more beautiful and we think he’s done a magnificent job – just another way we are celebrating 10 years of field to bottle distilling.
